I rise tonight to mark the passing of a stalwart of the Dayboro community, Mr William Rowe, who was born on 16 June 1926 and passed away on 5 May 2010. His funeral was attended by hundreds of people in the community who wanted to pay their last respects to a man who was heavily involved in his community and the dairy industry and was a well-loved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. » more
I rise this morning to inform the House of vital community infrastructure being delivered by the Bligh government. Recently, I represented the Minister for Community Services, Karen Struthers, to officially open the new Maleny Neighbourhood Centre. The official plans to build this centre date back to August 2006 when then Treasurer Anna Bligh visited Maleny and announced an election commitment to fund this new centre. The Bligh government delivered on its promise with $2 million. » more

Fiona McNamara was pleased to see that the new $2.4 million Resource Centre and Multipurpose Hall are completed and have become a welcome addition to the school.

Carolyn Male MP, State Member for Pine Rivers, and Mary-Anne O’Neill MP, State Member for Kallangur are pleased to announce that the Pine Rivers Community will have access to bigger and better services after the Bligh Government recently secured land for the development of the new Pine Rivers Neighbourhood Centre.
Mary-Anne O’Neill MP said part of the $1.3 million block on Gympie Road in Lawnton would be used to build the Centre and allow it to continue to deliver services.
“It is a measure of its success that the Pine Rivers Neighbourhood Centre has outgrown its current home and needs to expand to a bigger and better location to continue meeting the needs of clients and the community,” Ms O’Neill MP said. » more
