About Carolyn Male
Carolyn Male MP is the State Member for Pine Rivers.
Since being elected in 2001, Carolyn has provided strong grass roots representation in the Queensland Parliament. Carolyn was appointed Chief Government Whip in 2006 which is the first time in the history of the Queensland Parliament that a woman has held this position. Carolyn was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Education in April 2009 until April 2010.
Before being elected to Parliament, Carolyn received her secondary teaching degree from Kelvin Grove QUT (CAE) in 1985. She was a student teacher at Pine Rivers High, and her postings included the Darling Downs towns of Oakey and Clifton.
Carolyn then worked as an Assistant Accountant, Personal Assistant and Advisor before deciding to run for public office in 1999.
Carolyn currently serves on the following Committees; Integrity, Ethics and Parliamentary Privileges Committee and the Committee System Review Committee .
Carolyn currently serves on the following Ministerial Legislative review and policy committees - Natural Resources, Mines, Energy and Trade, Climate Change and Sustainablity; Public Works and ICT, Education and Training.
Carolyn has a strong track record in community involvement and is Patron of a number of community groups. As Charter President of the Queensland Parliamentary Lions Group she is very involved with community causes and supports a lot of sporting and community interest groups.
Carolyn is a committed fitness fanatic and combines this with her love of the outdoors through daily walks and also bushwalking.
Time spent with her husband Bill and two daughters often involve boogie boarding at the beach, bike riding or other outdoor fun.
Other interests include art, historic houses, reading and the occasional trip to the movies.
