State Member for Pine Rivers, Carolyn Male MP, today announced more than $26,000 to assist maintenance programs at Strathpine West and Bray Park state schools.

Carolyn Male MP said the funding would allow for the replacement of louvres with ‘Winterlite’ panels on the western side of Amenities A Block at Strathpine West and the installation of new accordion doors to the General Studies Block at Bray Park.

“This funding is great news for the students, parents and teachers from both schools,” Carolyn Male MP said.

“I know from talking to teachers and parents that this work is important to the school community and I am delighted my representations to Public Works Minister Robert Schwarten have resulted in this funding becoming available.”

Carolyn Male MP said the funding for the project was provided through the Department of Public Works’ Special Building Needs program.

“The Special Building Needs program was developed alongside existing maintenance programs to undertake projects that arise in the course of the year or that are unable to be completed by the school because of the cost,” Carolyn Male MP said.

“This funding demonstrates the Bligh Government’s commitment to maintaining public infrastructure for the benefit of the community and ensures we are on the path to achieving our Toward Q2 targets of a stronger, smarter, fairer Queensland.”

Carolyn Male MP said the work would be programmed for completion as soon as possible, with every effort being made to minimise disruption to classes.

QBuild - the State Government’s construction and maintenance division - will manage the project.
