Event organisers in parts of South East Queensland can now apply online for one-off community liquor permits under a pilot scheme by the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation, Carolyn Male MP, State Member for Pine Rivers said.
Carolyn Male MP said the scheme would initially include residents in Pine Rivers, Brisbane, Redcliffe and parts of Ipswich, Logan and Wynnum.
“This is the first in a staged roll-out of the online application process which will eventually be available throughout Queensland.”
“The new system will allow unlicensed organisations wishing to sell alcohol on a one-off occasion such as festivals, fetes and sporting events to submit their application at the click of a button,” said Carolyn Male MP said.
“Applicants will still be subject to the same rigorous licensing process as before, but by introducing the online system, the Queensland Government is actively reducing the paperwork and red tape for low-risk events.”
“Licensing makes up 90 per cent of OLGR’s day-to-day business, so it’s important to use processes that are both efficient and accessible.”
Carolyn Male MP said that following industry feedback, the state’s regulator, the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation, is focussing on a number of improvements to streamline its licensing process.
“OLGR receives more than 6000 community liquor permit applications each year, so improvements to the process will affect many groups.”
“Following feedback from industry, OLGR has also increased its online capability for application payments, introducing increased credit card limits and Bpay.”
