Carolyn Male MP, State Member for Pine Rivers, recently asked a question of Minister Jones as to the progress of residents taking up the Climate Smart Home Service and the benefits that this is producing towards the environment.
“The Minister informed me that within the Moreton Bay Regional Council area, as of 16 July more than 7,100 services have been provided by the Climate Smart Home Initiative,” Carolyn Male MP said.
“This means that a home that is undertaking the Service and changes its ongoing electricity usage behaviour can save a total of up to 20.4 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions over the average eight year life of the greenhouse friendly products installed and up to $250 on their annual electricity bills.”
“It is expected that the total number of households in the Moreton Bay Regional Council area who have received their Service will save an estimated 145,084 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions over the average eight year life of the products.”
“This Queensland Government initiative is providing a win for Queenslanders and the environment along with the Solar Hot Water program and the Federal Government Energy Efficient Homes Package.”
“Applications are now open for the Queensland Government Solar Hot Water Program which offers a standard installation, greenhouse efficient solar hot water system or heat pump for $100 to eligible Queensland pensioners and $500 to all other eligible Queensland households,” Carolyn Male said.
To register to participate in the scheme or for more information visit the website at www.cleanenergy.qld.gov.au or call the Program hotline on 13 25 23.
“The Energy Efficient Homes Package run by the Federal Government will install ceiling insulation in up to 2.9 million homes. The homeowner insulation program provides assistance of up to $1,600 to install ceiling insulation in the homes of eligible owner-occupiers,” Carolyn Male said.
