Carolyn Male, State Member for Pine Rivers, urged people to get their entries before the 2010 Premier’s Multicultural Photographic awards close on 23 July.

Carolyn Male MP said the awards were open to both amateur and professional photographers, as well as school students. Prizes will be awarded in four categories - open, young photographer (5-12 years), young photographer (13-18 years) and creative application. Winning entries will share in $13,800 in prize money.

“The photographic awards, celebrate Queensland’s diversity and the strength of our rich multicultural community through images,” Carolyn Male MP said.

“Queensland is home to around 200 cultures - multiculturalism means different things to different people and this is a great way for Queenslanders to express in pictures what multiculturalism means to them.”

“Queenslanders will get to vote for their favourite photo in the People’s Choice Award from the online gallery of short-listed entries on the awards’ website after the competition closes.”

“I’m sure this year’s theme ‘A Multicultural Future for all of us’ will inspire Queenslanders to be creative and capture images showing the many positive benefits of multiculturalism,” Carolyn Male MP said.

“You can enter the awards online for free and submit photos to the awards website - all you need is a digital camera and access to the internet.”

The Premier’s Multicultural Photographic Awards are open until 23 July 2010. For more information on the awards and to enter visit: www.multicultural.qld.gov.au.
