Carolyn Male MP, State Member for Pine Rivers and Parliamentary Secretary for Education, today celebrated with staff and students at Genesis Christian College the opening of a new $3.1 million administration building.
Carolyn Male MP said the facility would add a new level of efficiency to the administration of the school.
“Since the college opened 18 years ago its growth has been phenomenal with a new building every two years constructed to cater for the growing student body,” Carolyn Male MP said.
“It’s another milestone in the evolution of Genesis Christian College.”
“Today more than 1000 students attend the college-from Prep to Year 12-and 75 children are enrolled at the Little Genesis Childcare Centre.”
“I commend the staff and school community for their vision and determination to see the college come to fruition.”
Carolyn Male MP also congratulated Cr Mick Gillam on all of the assistance that Moreton Bay Regional Council provided to ensure the building plans of the school ran smoothly through Council.
The new facility received $620,000 in State Government funding; $620,000 in Federal funding and the school contributed more than $2 million.
Carolyn Male MP said the State Government was supporting the development of non-state schools in 2008-2009 with $408.2 million in recurrent funding and $50.4 million in capital funding.
“Genesis Christian College has received more than $4 million in recurrent funding over the past three years and almost $2.5 in capital funding over the past five years.”
