Carolyn Male MP looking over plans for the Expansion of the Carpark with Bray Park Railway Station Manager Mark
Carolyn Male MP, State Member for Pine Rivers, has announced that the $1.1 million Bray Park station park ‘n’ ride upgrade is due to commence construction in April and is expected to take six months to complete.
Carolyn Male MP said that the Bligh Government is delivering on their election commitment to provide Bray Park rail commuters with 76 extra parking bays and a secure bike locker at their local station.
“The Bray Park station car park upgrade will provide an extra 76 all-day car parks, increasing current capacity by 50 per cent,” Carolyn Male MP said.
“The car park extension will also feature new secure bike storage facilities, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) technology, bright lighting and secure fencing to help ensure commuters feel safe and secure when parking their cars at the station.”
“These extra facilities will make the station and its rail services much more accessible for public transport commuters and it also further encourages commuters to be environmentally-friendly and use public transport.”
“The car park will be accessible from Brahms Road and includes works to the existing car park.”
Carolyn Male MP said the project was part of the State Government’s commitment to train station upgrades across the TransLink network.
“This project is being funded under the State Government’s $10.5 million Urban Congestion Management Fund, which is designed to keep unnecessary car trips off our roads and on to public transport.”
“TransLink is also undertaking a preliminary assessment of the interchange facility at Bray Park with a view to improving pedestrian, cycle, and bus access for all customers.”
Carolyn Male MP said community consultation about the car park extension began early this year.
“We encouraged people to have their say about the upgrade project and we appreciate people’s patience while this important project gets underway,” Carolyn Male MP said.
