Carolyn Male MP, State Member for Pine Rivers, is pleased to announce the introduction of new Service Awards for Justices of the Peace and Commissioners for Declarations, which will complement the existing 25 year and 50 year awards.
Carolyn Male MP said that these new awards are the ruby award for 40 years service and the diamond award for 60 years service.
“This is an excellent way to reward Justices of the Peace and Commissioners for Declarations for the valuable voluntary work they undertake on behalf of the people of Queensland,” Carolyn Male MP said.
“Last year, Attorney General Hon Cameron Dick MP and I awarded a combined 975 years of community service by local Justices of the Peace at a special function held in their honour.”
“I look forward to presenting more awards this year.”
“Often, a Justice of the Peace will volunteer their time despite the cost to themselves or to work commitments.”
“It is important to remember the crucial jobs that JPs carry out for the community; work that the community of Pine Rivers greatly appreciates.”
“JPs handle between 1500 and 2000 matters throughout Queensland each day.”
“JPs provide a great service to the community, and the important work they do enables lawyers and the courts to concentrate on cases which require professional legal training.”
“This is a significant contribution which assists in the delivery of a fair, efficient and accessible justice system for Queensland.”
