State Member for Pine Rivers, Carolyn Male MP, reminded Pine Rivers students in grades 5 to 7 that they have just one week left to get their entries in to win one of 89 bikes up for grabs as part of Bike Week 2010 celebrations (13 to 21 March).
Carolyn Male MP said the Premier’s Bike Week Challenge 2010 is an on line competition that will see 89 bikes given away to the value of $300.
“This competition is about raising awareness of the many benefits of riding a bike to school,” Carolyn Male MP said.
“It is great exercise for children and it also teaches them road safety skills that will come in handy throughout their lives.”
“An added benefit for us all is that it also helps to reduce congestion by taking more cars off our roads.”
Carolyn Male MP said that over 1000 students had so far entered the competition and were in the running to win a brand new bike.
“Entering the Premier’s Bike Week Challenge 2010 is easy - simply visit www.travelsmart.qld.gov.au/bikegiveaway and answer 10 questions about bicycle safety.”
“With just one week left to enter I encourage all grade 5 to 7 students here in my community to get their entries in for a chance to win a new bike.”
Carolyn Male MP said the online competition will close at 3pm on Friday 19 March 2010.
Bike Week is an annual event coordinated by Bicycle Queensland and the Queensland Government is proud to be the principal sponsor, investing $49,000 in various events and educational activities throughout Bike Week.
