Carolyn Male MP, State Member for Pine Rivers, and Mary-Anne O’Neill MP, State Member for Kallangur are pleased to announce that the Pine Rivers Community will have access to bigger and better services after the Bligh Government recently secured land for the development of the new Pine Rivers Neighbourhood Centre.
Mary-Anne O’Neill MP said part of the $1.3 million block on Gympie Road in Lawnton would be used to build the Centre and allow it to continue to deliver services.
“It is a measure of its success that the Pine Rivers Neighbourhood Centre has outgrown its current home and needs to expand to a bigger and better location to continue meeting the needs of clients and the community,” Ms O’Neill MP said.
“The bigger and better new location will help the Centre to keep up with the demand for support services from individuals and families in and around the local area.”
“With educational workshops, fundraising activities and social programs, the new centre will help to create a more connected and supported community.”
Carolyn Male MP, who was successful in securing funds for the centre in the last Queensland budget, said the Bligh Government provided more than $304,000 a year to the Pine Rivers Neighbourhood Centre to run local services.
“The centre delivers a wide range of services including homelessness programs, counselling and therapy, anger management courses, parenting classes and adult literacy programs,” Carolyn Male MP said.
“They also provide a meeting place for the community and a volunteer development program.”
“This is all made possible because of the hard work by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers who help more 400 clients each month.”
Carolyn Male MP said more services could be offered to more clients once the centre’s new premises were completed.
The Pine Rivers Neighbourhood Centre can be contacted on 3205 2955.
