Carolyn Male MP, State Member for Pine Rivers, said Pine Rivers students in grades 5 to 7 could be in the running to win 1 of 89 bikes up for grabs in a special competition to celebrate Bike Week 2010 (13 to 21 March).

“The competition aims to raise awareness of the benefits of sustainable transport and bike safety to primary school children, with 89 bikes to giveaway to the value of $300 each through an online competition,” Carolyn Male MP said.

“I greatly enjoy riding my bike, and encourage my children to get as much exercise as possible. I encourage other parents to get behind Bike Week and support an active lifestyle for their children” Carolyn Male MP said.

“Riding a bike to school is great exercise for children and teaches them important road safety skills while helping to reduce congestion on our roads.”

“I encourage all grade 5 to 7 students across Queensland to visit www.travelsmart.qld.gov.au/bikegiveaway and enter the Premier’s Bike Week Challenge 2010 by answering 10 questions about bicycle safety and Bike Week for a chance to win a new bike.”

Carolyn Male MP said the online competition is now open and will close at 3pm EST on Friday 19 March 2010.

Bike Week is an annual event coordinated by Bicycle Queensland and the Queensland Government is proud to be the principal sponsor, investing $49,000 in various events and educational activities throughout Bike Week.
