In Parliament, Carolyn Male MP, State Member for Pine Rivers, asked the Minister for Police, the Hon Neil Roberts MP, a question regarding current policing resources and facilities in Pine Rivers.

Carolyn Male MP has been informed that, the Pine Rivers electorate is policed by the Petrie, Albany Creek, Dayboro and Mango Hill Police Divisions, which fall within the Pine Rivers Police District. As at 1 October 2009, the District had an approved strength of 169 sworn officers and an actual strength of 185 officers.

The Petrie Police Division is resourced by the:

• Petrie Police Station, which accommodates 57 general duties officers, the District Criminal Investigation Branch, the District Child Protection and Investigation Unit, Support Services and the District Office;
• Bray Park Police Residential Police Beat, which is currently staffed by two general duties officers;
• Strathpine Police Beat shopfront, which is currently staffed by one general duties officer; and
• Pine Rivers Police Citizens Youth Club, which currently has one Sergeant (the Branch Manager) attached to it.

“The Dayboro Police Division is resourced by Dayboro Police Station and is currently staffed by two general duties officers,” Carolyn Male MP said.

“The Pine Rivers area is also serviced by various specialist units which operate throughout the Pine Rivers Police District. Those units include the Criminal Investigation Branch, Child Protection and Investigation Unit, Support Services, Traffic Branch and Pine Rivers Watchhouse.”

“While most of the District units are accommodated within a police station, the Pine Rivers Watchhouse is situated at Strathpine and includes the Watchhouse staff and District Police Prosecutions.”

“Recent improvements to operational policing resources in the Pine Rivers area include the Pine Rivers Watchhouse, which was officially opened in January 2009, at a cost of $12 million. This new facility can accommodate up to 20 prisoners.”
