Carolyn Male MP, State Member for Pine Rivers, would like to make residents aware that the Department of Transport and Main Roads is undertaking resurfacing works on Gympie Road between South Pine River and Samsonvale Road at Strathpine, and Dianne Street and Wylie Park at Lawnton.
Carolyn Male said that the works are scheduled to commence mid June 2009 and are expected to be completed by late September 2009, weather permitting. Works will take place overnight Monday to Friday, between 7pm and 5am.
“Works involve resurfacing the road providing a safer and smoother ride for motorists using Gympie Road,” Carolyn Male said.
“Minor traffic delays are expected due to lane closures on Gympie Road.”
“Traffic control measures will be in place to ensure safety for road workers and motorists.”
“Lighting equipment will be used and work vehicles will be fitted with reversing beepers as required by law.”
Due to the volume of traffic using this area during the day, it is not practical or safe for workers to carry out this work during daytime hours.
The Department of Main Roads will make every effort to keep disruptions to a minimum and apologises for any inconvenience.
Carolyn Male would also like to urge people to please slow down during these roadworks - roadwork safety is your responsibility too.
A flyer will be distributed to local residents to notify them of the works.
