“This school is among 62 state schools to deliver face-to-face literacy and numeracy support to eligible students from a total of more than 330 state schools,” Carolyn Male MP said.
“In the Pine Rivers and Kallangur region, students from Bray Park, Strathpine, Dakabin, Kurwongbah, Undurba local cluster schools will be eligible to attend the program at Kallangur State School.”
“These Summer Schools will be available to students in Years 5-7 who need some extra help with their literacy and numeracy skills,” Mary-Anne O’Neill MP said.
“The Bligh Government is committed to improving standards in Queensland schools.”
“We know there are students out there who need more focussed attention and support to lift their achievements and that’s what these summer schools aim to provide.”
Carolyn Male MP said the Summer Schools initiative would be offered during the September school holidays from September 28 -October 2.
“We will be offering a second program in January 2010 to give students some extra support before the start of the new school year,” he said.
