Carolyn Male MP, Government Whip and Labor Candidate for Pine Rivers, would like to make people aware that a Queensland parliamentary committee wants to hear your views on what should be included in a preamble to the Constitution of Queensland 2001.
The Legal, Constitutional and Administrative Review Committee will draft the text of a preamble to Queensland’s Constitution following a referral from the Legislative Assembly Carolyn Male MP said.
“The preamble will contain an aspirational statement on the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the establishment of Queensland and a statement of due recognition of Queensland’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.”
The Committee released an issues paper calling for submissions from Queenslanders.
Submissions close on Friday, 13 March 2009. The Committee will provide a report to the Parliament, including a draft preamble, on Tuesday, 21 April 2009.
To obtain an issues paper, or for further information about Committee and its work visit the Committee’s website: www.parliament.qld.gov.au/lcarc or contact the secretariat on 3406 7307.
